How AI Explanations Work

Four steps from question to understanding

1

Answer a Question

Answer any question in a study session. It doesn't matter if you get it right or wrong — you get an explanation either way.

2

Read the AI Explanation

Our AI breaks down the concept in plain language. It explains why the correct answer is right and why each wrong answer is wrong.

3

Follow the Handbook Reference

Where a question is mapped to a handbook section, the explanation links straight to it, so you can study the topic in depth without searching through pages.

4

Ask Follow-Up Questions

Still confused? Ask the AI tutor a follow-up question right from the explanation. Get the concept explained a different way.

Question

What causes an aircraft to enter a spin?

AI Explanation

A spin occurs when one wing stalls more than the other, causing the aircraft to autorotate. At low airspeeds near the critical angle of attack, if the aircraft yaws — from uncoordinated rudder input, for example — one wing can exceed its critical angle while the other hasn't. This asymmetric stall produces different lift on each wing, rolling and yawing the aircraft into a spin.

Excessive airspeed is actually the opposite of what causes a spin — spins typically occur at low airspeeds near the stall. Understanding this relationship between angle of attack, coordination, and airspeed is key to spin awareness and prevention.

Why AI Explanations Matter

Understand, Don't Memorize

Explanations teach you the underlying concept, not just the answer. You build knowledge that sticks — and that makes you a safer pilot.

Grounded in FAA Source Material

Explanations are written against the official FAA handbooks, and link to the exact section wherever a question is mapped to one — so you study the source, not a paraphrase.

Instant & Automatic

No waiting, no extra clicks. Explanations appear automatically after every answer. They're part of the study flow, not an interruption.

Ask Follow-Ups

Don't understand something in the explanation? Ask the AI tutor. It can rephrase, go deeper, or connect the concept to something you already know.
