Instructor Affiliate Program Terms

How AviaSkill flight instructors earn and receive commissions for referring students.

Last Updated: July 2026

Draft for review. This is a template-based draft of the affiliate program terms. It should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before the first real payout is made. Program economics shown here are generated from the platform's live configuration and reflect what the system actually calculates.

These Instructor Affiliate Program Terms ("Affiliate Terms") govern participation in the AviaSkill instructor affiliate program (the "Program"), operated by YMI Digital LLC, doing business as AviaSkill ("we," "us," or "our"). By referring students through your instructor account, you agree to be bound by these Affiliate Terms. They work alongside our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy, all of which are incorporated by reference. If any conflict exists, these Affiliate Terms control for matters specific to the Program.

Eligibility

The Program is open to verified AviaSkill instructor accounts based in the United States. To receive payment you must be able to provide a valid U.S. taxpayer identification number on IRS Form W-9 (see "Taxes" below). Instructors outside the United States are not eligible to receive payouts at this time.

Participation is a privilege, not a right. We may decline, suspend, or remove any instructor from the Program at our discretion, including for any violation of these Affiliate Terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, or applicable law.

How Commissions Are Earned

When a student signs up using your unique referral link and later pays for an AviaSkill subscription, you earn a commission of 20% of the net collected subscription revenue from that student, for the first 12 months measured from the date the referral converts.

  • Attribution is code-based. A commission accrues only for students who sign up through your referral link. We attribute one referrer per student, permanently, at sign-up. Students who already have an account cannot be retroactively attributed to you.
  • "Net collected revenue" means the amount a student actually pays on an invoice, after any discounts, promotions, or coupons applied at checkout. Commissions are calculated per paid invoice.
  • No commission on unpaid or $0 invoices. Free trials, fully-discounted invoices, and any period for which no money is collected earn nothing.
  • The 12-month window is per student. Payments a referred student makes after their 12-month window closes do not earn commissions.
  • No cap on total earnings. There is no limit on how many students you may refer or how much you may earn in aggregate.

The commission rate applied to a given payment is fixed at the time the commission accrues. If we change the rate for the Program, existing accrued commissions are unaffected.

Maturity & Refund Reversals

To account for our refund window, each commission is held for 30 days after the underlying payment before it becomes eligible for payout.

  • Refund before payout. If the payment underlying a commission is refunded before that commission has been paid to you, the commission is reversed and will not be paid.
  • Refund after payout (clawback). If a payment is refunded after the related commission has already been paid to you, the corresponding amount (pro-rated for partial refunds) is deducted from your next payout. If your balance is insufficient to cover a clawback, the negative balance carries forward and is offset against future commissions. We will not invoice you directly for clawbacks.

Discounts and coupons applied to a student's subscription are never clawed back from you — clawbacks apply only to actual refunds of collected revenue.

Payouts

  • Minimum threshold. Payouts are issued once your matured, payable balance reaches $25. Balances below the threshold carry forward until they qualify.
  • Cadence. Eligible balances are paid on a monthly basis. Every payout is reviewed and released by us individually.
  • Method. Where you have set up a Stripe payout account, payments are sent to it. Otherwise we will arrange payment through a method agreed with you (for example, an electronic transfer). You are responsible for providing accurate payment details.

Your current balance, individual commissions, and payout history are visible at any time on your earnings page.

Taxes

Affiliate commissions are non-employee compensation and are taxable income. You are solely responsible for any taxes owed on amounts paid to you under the Program.

  • W-9 required before your first payout. You must submit a completed IRS Form W-9 with a valid U.S. taxpayer identification number before we release any payment. This requirement also confirms eligibility, since only U.S. persons can provide one.
  • 1099-NEC. If we pay you $600 or more in commissions in a calendar year, we will issue an IRS Form 1099-NEC for that year as required by law.

Prohibited Conduct & Fraud

The Program rewards genuinely recruiting new students. The following are prohibited and may result in reversal of commissions, forfeiture of balances, and removal from the Program:

  • Referring yourself or creating accounts to refer yourself.
  • Using fraudulent, stolen, or test payment methods, or coordinating subscribe-then-refund activity to generate commissions.
  • Misrepresenting AviaSkill, its pricing, or its features to induce sign-ups; spamming; or any deceptive, misleading, or unlawful promotion.
  • Bidding on or using AviaSkill trademarks in paid search or domains in a way that is misleading or that we prohibit.
  • Any attempt to manipulate attribution, invoices, or the commission ledger.

Relationship of the Parties

Your participation in the Program does not create an employment, partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship between you and AviaSkill. You are an independent participant. You have no authority to make any representations or commitments on our behalf.

Changes to the Program

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Program, or change these Affiliate Terms — including commission rates, windows, thresholds, and payout methods — at any time, at our discretion. Changes apply going forward and do not affect commissions that have already accrued. Continued participation after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If we discontinue the Program, we will pay out eligible matured balances that meet the minimum threshold.
